Guardian of Dimensions - Chapter 3: Forgotten Pasts --------------------------------------------------- "Kaze-chan! Hey, Kaze-chan!" Kaze rolled her eyes, going to the window. What else did she want from her now? Wasn't she happy after getting her in punishment for a week? "Yes? What is it?" she asked irritably, looking down at her sister. And there she stood, looking up at her, fidgeting nervously. When she saw the expression on Kaze's face, she took a step back, bowing her head as to hide with her sandy blonde locks the hurt that she felt. "I...I only wanted to say that I'm sorry for getting you in trouble..." she said, quietly, her voice trembling. Kaze felt her anger melt away. "It's alright, Sora-chan" she said softly, smiling. "After all, it was worth it...." she giggled. Sora giggled too. "Really it was. The face of the head cook was so funny! He surely had not expected to find a mouse into the kitchen..." "Yes, that was a good idea. But remember, next time _I_ have the good idea, and _you_ do it." "All right" Sora laughed. Then, she ran to a large tree and started climbing it. "Hey, onee-chan! What are you doing?" Kaze asked curiously. "Isn't it evident?" Sora pointed to a large branch that reached just under Kaze's window. "Since you can't come out to play with me, I'll come in to play with you", she giggled again. "What if you fall down and hurt yourself?" "Oh come on, don't be silly, sister. You know I can climb trees better than anyone else." Sora answered, continuing her climbing. In that instant, Kaze took her decision. "Better that anyone else? Well, certainly not better than me!" She jumped out of the window, landing safely on the branch under it, and started climbing down. Sora frowned. "What are you doing now? "Can't you see it yourself? I'm climbing down!" "But you'll get in trouble!" Kaze laughed airily. "I'm already in trouble, Sora-chan. And anyway, mama and papa are out, and won't return until tomorrow...how could they possibly find out?" She sat on a smaller, lower branch, then she unbalanced and let herself fall backwards. Hanging from her knees, she started swinging, first slowly, then gaining more speed. Suddenly, she grabbed with her hands another branch, continued swinging for a moment and left her grip, somersaulting and landing finally on the grass. She grinned. "What do you think of this, Sora-chan? Aren't I better than you?" Sora climbed quickly up the tree, until she got to the branch her twin was sitting on a moment before. She then proceeded to do the same thing Kaze had done. "No you aren't. You're just as good as me", she laughed, landing next to her. Then, pointing to the garden: "Shall we go?" * * * "I want to come too!" Kaze said determinatedly. Sora shook her head. "No, onee-chan. It's better if you stay here." "But why?" "I have a feeling something terrible is going to happen, and I don't want you involved", was the answer. "Then why are you going in the first place?" "Well--someone has to help, Queen Serenity can't hold all them off by herself." "She's right, princess", one of their guardians interjected. "Stay here, please. None of us wants to see you hurt." "All right" Kaze said unwillingly. "I'll stay here." Sora smiled. "Thank you, onee-chan." 'And farewell forever...' She whispered her henshin phrase, followed by the guardians. Kaze watched silently as their clothes melt away and senshi fuku formed. Then, the senshi jumped out of their hiding place, into the battle. "FEATHERS TORNADO!!!" Kaze heard her sister call out. "Good luck..." she whispered softly, sadly. * * * The battle was over. With the help of the six senshi, the enemies had been easily defeated. But now, Queen Serenity was casting a banishing spell over them, because, she said, their power was dangerous and unpredictable. Kaze was looking, peeping out of her hiding place. She now understood why her sister had not wanted her to go: and as tears flowed down her cheeks freely while Sora and their guardians slowly vanished, she vowed to herself never to trust anyone of the Moon kin, for they had taken away the ones she loved most in the world. * * * Haruka looked at herself in the mirror. 'God, I hate this uniform', she thought. 'It makes me look like a girl, dammit!' 'But you _are_ a girl, after all!' a voice chided her. Haruka looked around in disbelief. That voice...it was the voice from her dream. It was the only thing she could remember about it. That, and that she had awoken with tears streaming down her face.
