Guardian of Dimensions - Chapter 5: Remember me? ------------------------------------------------ At home, Himeko was playing chess with Megumi, while the others watched intently. Himeko studied the board carefully, then she made her move. "Check mate again", she announced. "Sorry, Megumi-chan." Megumi sighed. "I give up. I'll never be able to beat you." Himeko laughed. "You're not that bad. Let's have another game, shall we? In that instant, the telephone rang. "I'll get it" Himeko said, getting up from the couch she was sitting on. She reached the phone and picked up the receiver. "Hello?" "HELLOOOO, HIME-SAAAN!!!!" Himeko winced, and held the telephone away from her ear. "Usagi here!" Usagi continued cheerfully. Her voice was so loud that the chess pieces fell from the board to the floor. "I've thought that it would be nice to go shopping together. I've already called Ami-chan, Mako-chan, Rei-chan, Minako-chan, and of course Michiru-san, Setsuna-san - she's another friend of mine, you don't know her yet - and Haruka-san, and they're all coming! Wouldn't you and your friends like to come too?" "E-er..." Himeko stuttered. "Oh, great!" Usagi beamed. "I was SURE you'd come! We'll meet at the Tower [the Tokyo Tower] in twenty minutes! See you then!" she hung up. Himeko turned to look at her friends, a massive sweatdrop hanging from her head. "Oh well....girls, prepare yourself. We go shopping with Serenity." * * * Haruka tried to hide a yawn behind her hand. They had visited three shops in three hours, and she was beginning to feel tired. Shopping was so _boring_, she thought. Almost as boring as Modern Japanese classes. "Haruka-chan?" Himeko was looking at her, smiling. "You don't like shopping at all, do you?" Haruka found herself smiling in return. 'Strange', she thought. 'I didn't use to smile and laugh this much before I knew her...' "Right, as usual. I find it almost as boring as school." She chuckled. "Anyways, how did you know that? Sometimes I could swear you can read my mind!" "Mind reading, aaaah...." Himeko turned red. "That's not the kind of mind trick I usually perform.....it's very difficult sometimes..... y'know, even mind influencing is simpler, for example...and those are only the basic tricks..." Himeko realized what she had said and turned redder. Haruka stared at her. "Are you serious?? You can read people's mind, influence it, and all that kind of things, or you're just making fun of me??" 'Oh great, now what do I do? Shall I tell her, or say it was only a joke?' She thought about it for a minute. 'Well, it's better telling her now than risking her to find out later, and maybe hating me for having lied.......' "Well" she said hesitantly "yes, I do. I'm a full fledged empath." "This means you've read my mind before, just like you did now! All that teasing me about why I believed the senshi existed, yesterday, for example! You knew all the way that I was Sailor Uranus! You were just making fun of me!" Himeko shook her head. "No, Haruka-chan. I swear it. I never tried to read your mind. That would be cheating. I know you're Sailor Uranus, but only because, when I told you you were my favourite senshi, you were so surprised you practically screamed 'ME???' in my mind..." It was Haruka's turn to turn red, but nonetheless she kept her voice cold. "Well, couldn't you shut your mind or something?" Himeko shook her head. "You're an empath too, Haruka-chan, though untrained. Your thoughts have such force that I can't possibly shut them out." Haruka turned away. "Great. So you know all about my life, don't you?" Himeko clearly felt the pain and bitterness behind the question, though she couldn't detect the reason. "No, only a few things. Why do you ask? What is it that you have done, or that you are, that you're so ashamed of that you don't want me to know?" Haruka said nothing, but Himeko felt her thought. Her eyes widened in surprised, then she smiled in understanding. She gently hugged Haruka from behind. "Haruka-chan" she said softly "there's nothing to be ashamed of in the love you and Michiru share, no matter what some people might say." Haruka turned around in the hug to face her, tears in her eyes. "You mean it? How do I know you aren't lying?" Himeko smiled gently. "Do your friends think you are disgusting, Haruka-chan? No? Then how could I think so, I who are more than a friend to you?" Haruka freed herself from the hug. "What do you mean?" Himeko took Haruka's hand. "Come with me, I'll tell you everything..." She led her in a small alley, where she made sure no one could see them. Then, she took out a silver brooch. "Sunaru Planet Power, Make Up!" she shouted. And in seconds, after a short henshin sequence, in Himeko's place stood Sailor Sunaru. "We're sisters, Haruka-chan..." Haruka's eyes widened. Almost against her will, she whispered "Sora-chan?" Sunaru smiled, shifting back to her normal, everyday form. "Yes, Kaze-chan..." She touched lightly Haruka's forehead, causing both their symbols to light up... ...and Haruka remembered, her empathic powers renewing. She remembered having a twin sister, back in the Silver Millennium, and that she had saved the life of Queen Serenity, being banished with their guardians after the battle was ended, because of the power she had... she remembered growing up with an incredible hatred for all the Moon kin... then, being summoned to the Moon Court to become Sailor Uranus, and meeting the younger Serenity... and realizing that she was innocent, and unaware of what her mother had done, and did not deserve to be hated because of her mother's actions... and finally, she recalled the day Queen Serenity had decided she could not stand her hatred anymore... so she erased her memory, and sent her to guard the limits of the Solar System, alone... Haruka opened her eyes again, and looked at Himeko, who still had on her forehead the symbol of Uranus, shining white and clear... and she felt herself crying, for the first time in her life, but she didn't care, as she threw herself in Himeko's arms, sobbing hard... "Sora-chan... my sister... how could I forget you... my sister..." Himeko was crying too, pure tears of joy. "It doesn't matter now... Kaze-chan... all that matters now is that we're together... again..." * * * Meanwhile, in the shop, the senshi were having a hard time fighting two monsters like the one that they had seen before, made of pure darkness. These two, however, had the power to absorb the attacks thrown at them and then use them against the senshi as many times as they wanted, and everytime they did so they also split in two, increasing their number. Even thought the Guardian senshi of Uranus had joined them in the battle, the monsters were too strong. The creatures were about to definitely destroy the senshi...... "Matte! [stop!]" two voices yelled in unison, and there suddenly stood Uranus and Sunaru. "In the name of the world of the wind, Uranus. The soldier of flight, Sailor Uranus!" "In the name of the world of the many dimensions, the hidden world, Sunaru. Guardian of dimensions and soldier of the sky, I am Sailor Sunaru!" "Ha, two more pathetic senshi. Demons, take care of them" a black, shadowed figure ordered, then vanished. ::You've seen that?:: Uranus asked to Sunaru, in the mental language that all empaths possessed. ::Yes::, was the answer. ::It was one of the Kurasanoko.:: ::One of the WHAT?:: ::You know about the legend of the battle between Light and Darkness, don't you?:: ::More or less, I know the story... No, wait a second. If the Kurasanoko are awake, then...:: ::Yes. The dark is rising, Haruka-chan...:: The answer was determined. ::Then let the light rise, too.:: Sunaru sounded surprised. ::You already know?:: ::I've known it for months now. I've been having dreams and premonitions for a long time, though I truly understand them only now. I know we're the Hikarinoko. And I'll fight for the world, as I always did.:: ::All right. We'll start your training tomorrow.:: ::No, wait... you are going to train me?:: ::I'm already fully trained, so I can do it. There was also an old Light mage sealed away in the same dimension as us, and he recognized my potential and trained me. Unfortunately:: her voice turned pained ::he died before I achieved my birthright... I wish I could have set him free... he always talked about how much he missed the light of the sun...:: she shook herself. ::But we don't have time to worry about that now. We have to get rid of those demons quickly, before they gain enough power to start stealing souls. Unfortunately, it seems normal attacks don't work with them.:: ::So what do we do?:: Uranus asked. ::I'm afraid our only chance is to use powers they can't absorb....:: ::You mean....?:: ::Yes, we use the elemental power. They surely can't absorb that.....even if we risk the other senshi to recognize us, this is the only way....:: ::OK. You first::, Uranus sent back, then closed the link. Sunaru closed her eyes, and the symbol of Uranus took the place of her tiara, clearly outlined in white. Uranus did the same: only, her symbol was outlined in blue. "Sky elemental power....." Sunaru chanted. "Wind elemental power...." Uranus whispered. "Miranda elemental guardian power!" Miranda suddenly screamed, her symbol coming up on her forehead, outlined in dark aqua. "Oberon elemental guardian power!" Oberon yelled, the same symbol as Miranda coming up on her forehead, only outlined in purple. "Titania elemental guardian power!" Titania followed the other two's example, on her forehead the same symbol, outlined in silver-grey. "Ariel elemental guardian power!" Ariel yelled, the symbol on her forehead outlined in a blue-green color. "Umbriel elemental guardian power!" Umbriel screamed, the symbol, outlined in dark violet, appearing also on her forehead. "MAKE UP!!!" the seven senshi screamed. NOTE: You may be wondering how Uranus and Sunaru could just stand there talking when they were attacked. Well, empathic conversation usually take place at a speed decuple than normal conversations: thus, the twins' conversation only lasted two seconds or so. Empaths can also slow or quicken the speed of a conversation, to make it more or less understandable to the addressees: for example, empathic conversations with non-empaths happen at the same speed as normal conversation.
