Guardian of Dimensions - Chapter 7: Tale of the past ----------------------------------------------------- "Uranus! Are you crazy?" Pluto shouted, holding her cheek, from her fallen position. "Why don't you try _thinking_ before you speak, once in a blue moon, Pluto?" Uranus shouted back, tears of rage spilling down her cheeks. "You've seen how strong their - our - power is! You seriously think that they would've used it to _save_ you if they wanted to _destroy_ you, dammit? And don't give me that 'Queen Serenity was always right, she had a good reason to banish them' crap! She did _not_ have a good reason to banish them! She was simply scared of their power! They're not dangerous!" Pluto was taken aback by Uranus' fury. Never she had seen her crying before that day. "How can you be so sure?" she asked. "Because she's my _twin sister_ dammit! And they're our guardians!" A shocked silence followed those words. Neptune was the first to recover. "Twin...sister?" she whispered incredulously. "How.....?" Uranus dried her eyes with her arm. "Well..." she said, her voice wavering slightly "I guess this would be a good time to tell everyone what really happened..." "Back in the Silver Millennium" Himeko started quietly, her voice too wavering some "we were the two only daughters of King Uranus and Queen Sunaru. Only our parents knew our true names - Kaze and Sora [Wind and Sky] - everyone else believed that our names were Haruka and Seikyu [Distant and Impetuous]. That was because a legend of our planet, that our parents believed in, said that if two twin princesses were born, their names had to remain a secret, for they had in them the power of both. The legend also said that not even we could know our true names, because calling out the power of them would have given us unlimited strenght - but we were too curious." "We had heard of the legend" Uranus continued "so we searched through our parents' stuff for our names - and we found them. We tried calling each other with those names, but nothing happened. So we called out the power of them - and we felt ourselves changing. Wings grew on our shoulders, and we found ourselves dressed in a senshi uniform. And in front of us stood five confused girls we had neveer seen before." "We were the princesses of five of Uranus' moons" Miranda spoke. "Our parents had sent us to Uranus to be educated. We were studying together - luckily no one else was around - and suddenly there was this bright flash of light and we found ourselves in a room we'd never seen before, in front of two girls we knew as the two daughters of the king, and dressed in senshi uniforms." "We stood there staring at each other for what seemed an eternity" Himeko said "and suddenly we heard this voice in our head telling us who we were and what our power was. The legend had come true. We were only six years old, but after two or three months of dayly practice we had all becomen skilled fighters, and good friends too. It was then that Queen Serenity decided to come visit our parents." "We all were curious to see what the queen of the Silver Millennium looked like, so we used our powers to teleport to the spaceport and hid behind a parked ship. We still don't know what happened, but as soon as Queen Serenity got out of the ship, she was attacked by an awful lot of monsters. She couldn't hold them off alone, so Sora-chan and the guardians henshined and went to help her." Uranus' voice was bitter now. "I had wanted to go too, but Sora said no, I had to stay there because it was too dangerous. She was right." Tears started to trickle down her cheeks again. "Not the monsters - they defeated them easily - were the danger though, but the queen's ingratefulness." She choked back a sob. "They had risked their life to save her, and all she did in return was banish them, because she had seen their power and feared it." She sobbed again, quietly. "There, you now know everything." All the senshi were speechless in front of Uranus' obvious pain. Neptune tightly hugged her, and Uranus started crying on her shoulder, unable to stay in control anymore. "I would like to add" Himeko said "that I'm not seeking revenge for what Queen Serenity did to me, even if she tore me away from my home, my family, my sister, she sealed me in a dark cold dimension." Her words, thought gentle, were heavy like stones for the listening senshi. "I can understand her point of view. We were only six years old and we already had that much power - it was obvious she was scared. And the only mean she had to seal away that fear was to seal away us." She went to her sister's side and put a hand on her shoulder, a simple, comforting gesture, that made Uranus stop crying. Pluto was watching, eyes wide. "All right" she finally said. "Uranus..." Uranus looked at her with red rimmed eyes, still shining with tears. "Uranus", Pluto continued "you were right and I was wrong. I'm sorry. Anyways, there's a thing I still can't understand. Himeko-san, can you explain me how you could get out of the dimension you were sealed in?" Himeko smiled. "It's part of my birthright. When my thirteenth birthday came, I became Sailor Sunaru - the guardian of dimensions. My powers are sort of like yours. You, as the guardian of time, can shift through time; I, as the guardian of dimensions, can shift through dimensions. Other questions?" Pluto smiled in return. "No. Only a thing is left to say - welcome in the group, warriors of Uranus."
