Guardian of Dimensions - Prologue: The past returns ------------------------------------------------------- 'The time has come. I can go back... and be with her again...' She looked down at the silver brooch she was holding in her hands. 'But will she recognize me? Does she even remember me? I miss her so...' A tear trickled down her cheek. 'Me, the sky... her, the wind... undivisible... or so we always said...' A bitter smile curved her lips. 'But fate tore us apart... and now is bringing us back together... but... will it last?' "It'll be all right." She turned, surprised. "Miranda..." Her guardian smiled. " It'll be all right" she repeated. "Nothing will go wrong, believe me." "She's right" another girl said. "We'll protect you... nothing will go wrong." "Trust us, princess" a third girl spoke. "It'll be all right." The other two girls, who still had said nothing, nodded, with a reassuring smile. "We'll always be here for you." "Titania... Ariel... all of you..." the princess was crying. "Today you'll get your memories back... and... I don't know if you'll still want to protect me... because I took away such a big part of your life..." "Well, I'll always protect you, no matter what" Titania said, the others nodding and murmuring their agreement. The princess smiled bitterly, looking at the five girls who stood in front of her. Miranda, Oberon, Titania, Ariel, Umbriel... "Really?" The symbol on her forehead shimmered briefly, and five silver brooches fell in the hands of her five guardians. She watched in silence as they remembered their past, tears trickling down her cheeks, for it was a past she knew all too well. It was a past of loss... loss of innocence, loss of happiness... loss of family... she leaned on the wall, crying hard, for her friends, for her family, for everyone who suffered because of her... "It wasn't your fault." With these words, Titania hugged her gently. "You've given me so much... I'll protect you and defend you, not as a guardian protects a princess, but as a friend protects a friend." "It's the same for all of us" Miranda spoke on behalf of everyone. "You're our friend, other than our princess... we could never leave you alone." "Especially because you wouldn't survive a day in Tokyo without us" Ariel added, teasingly. "Oh, shut up" the princess grumbled, trying to sound hurt and offended - but, unfortunately, it was quite an impossible task for someone smiling as broadly as her. She looked at her smiling friends, and, with a mental command, opened a dimensional portal. "Well then, shall we go?"
