Eileah was laying in her bed, unable to sleep, listening to Alielle's quiet breathing. She wondered if she should confess her love to Alielle... she knew that Alielle had loved her once, but love doesn't last forever... and a thousand years of solitude can change a person... even if Alielle didn't seem to have changed. She wished she had noticed earlier what Alielle felt for her...
Tears started trickling down her cheeks. What should she do? She didn't want to lose Alielle again... but what could she do? Soft padding footsteps, then a warm hand on her face, brushing her tears away. "What's wrong, Eileah?"
"Alielle?"
Alielle chuckled softly, sitting on the edge of Eileah's bed. "No, it's a big bad monster who's come to eat you." She tenderly caressed Eileah's cheek. "Of course it's me, silly. What's wrong?"
Eileah bit her lip. What should she do? Could she really tell Alielle what she felt for her?
Alielle noticed Eileah's nervousness. "Don't be afraid, Eileah" she whispered gently. "Whatever is it that's troubling you, I can handle it. I won't think bad of you or hate you for that." 'And that's because I love you', she added silently. 'If only you loved me back...'
Eileah grabbed Alielle's hand, holding it tightly. "Really?"
Alielle's voice was warm. "Really."
Eileah closed her eyes and swallowed hard a few times, gathering her courage. "I found your message a few months ago" she finally said. "At first I was shocked, I have to admit it - but then I realized--" She took a deep breath. "I love you, Alielle. I've always loved you... and I could never bring myself to really hate you, not even when I thought you had killed my parents... the only thing I ever wished for was to be with you - forever." She paused, tears welling up in her eyes again. "But we've been apart for so long... and I've made you suffer so much... you probably stopped loving me a long time ago..." she let go of Alielle's hand, suddenly embarassed.
Alielle let out a suffocated gasp. 'She loves me?' It was something she had wished to hear for more a thousand years, and finally... Slowly, she brought her hand to Eileah's cheek again and let it rest there, overwhelmed by her feelings.
"Alielle...?" Eileah was half surprised, half hopeful.
Alielle bent down, until her lips were almost touching Eileah's. "I love you, too" she breathed, and then she closed the distance between them, kissing Eileah warmly.
Eileah instinctively returned the kiss, putting her arms around Alielle and pulling her closer. The kiss seemed to last an eternity, and Eileah felt like she could melt from happiness.
Alielle smiled against Eileah's lips, then pulled away slightly. "You really should get some sleep now" she whispered gently, caressing Eileah's cheek.
"I'm not sleepy" Eileah whispered back, pulling Alielle into a kiss again.
Alielle made a small sound and deepened the kiss, her tongue darting in Eileah's mouth as the other woman pulled her closer. Finally, she pulled away. "Now sleep."
Eileah just tightened her embrace, not wanting to let Alielle go. "I..."
Alielle kissed her again, warmly. "Don't worry. I'll still be here tomorrow, you know."
Eileah pulled her close again. "I know. But... I don't want to let you go. I'm afraid I'd lose you again..."
Alielle's voice was full of love. "You won't. I'll never let you go again... I love you so much..."
Eileah gasped softly when she felt Alielle pull out of her embrace, then slip under the bed covers and into her embrace again.
Alielle snuggled up against Eileah and rested her head on her chest, listening to her heartbeat. Eileah embraced her tightly, and they fell asleep together, dreaming of each other.
