Barcelona V: miscellanea

Just some assorted random photos that didn't fit anywhere else, mostly taken in the Poble Espanyol (with some exceptions, namely the stained glass photo, which was taken in the old cathedral).

Barcelona IV: obligatory cat pictures

Of the many cats I saw in Barcelona, this one is worth mentioning. It was in a porcelain store... at first, I didn't even notice it, because it was nicely curled up and sleeping on a shelf with some porcelain statues. Eventually, it woke up, and went to admire itself in front of a mirror that was nearby. Clever kitty.

Barcelona III: Gaudí

The famous Spanish architect, not the word "gaudy". Though sometimes he does come close. ;)

Some photos I took when visiting the Sagrada Familia:

And some of the Pedrera (the house with the weird chimneys):

(No, the lighting in the last one wasn't wanted... it's kinda cool how it turned out, though.)

Barcelona II: Mirador de Colón

Also known as the Columbus Tower. Built in 1888 for the Universal Exibition in Barcelona, as a reminder of the discovery of America.

Barcelona I: living statues

First batch of the Barcelona photos... yes yes, I've been lazy.

Living statues are people - street performers - who dress up, often as historical or popular figures, and stand in tourist-frequented places and act like statues. They'll only move when somebody drops a coin in their collection box / hat / whatever. Some I saw were badly done, but there were several brilliant ones.

And this guy in particular has been doing the same thing for years. He even has a website. I recall him from when I first went to Barcelona, on a school trip. (If I can find them again, after all these years, I'll scan some of the photos I took then.)
