Mrrr. HUNGRY. How I wish

Mrrr. HUNGRY. How I wish I hadn't had my stomach in knots at lunchtime. But I did, and I felt like I was going to throw up at any second, so I skipped lunch, and now my stomach is complaining. ¬¬ I could go out of work exp for 10 mins and go get some fries at McDonald's or something, but eh... don't wanna. Lazy, and I'm not going to finish this thing I'm working on anytime soon if I go out... I'll get some when I'm going home, and eat them on the train or something.

...not that this thing I'm working on is going to get finished if I blog rather than working, of course. ¬¬ Eh. Right, back to work...

Mrrr. Sleepy. Had a weird dream last night - I would even call it a nightmare, since I woke up from it and was very afraid because of it for a few minutes... which is odd in itself since I don't get nightmares usually. Very odd nightmare about this creature (with a name ending in -tori is all I can remember, though in the dream I saw his name and address in IRC format) with just one working eye in the middle of his forehead, the two normal eyes were closed and he was always grinning... and he would hunt down a particular group of people (haven't the faintest clue which group though I knew it in the dream), stalk them down, follow them at night in deserted alleys and when they turned he'd tackle them go "hiiiiiiii" and then draw something (power?) from them. Huh.

"Hey princess, why so sad?"

"Hey princess, why so sad?"
Heh. Was waiting for the time to go back to work exp, reading manga sitting on a bench in the road... was approached by one of those guys who sell postcards for a good cause (or rather, you give a "free offer", which can be anything you want, and they give you some postcards), he wanted me to give something. I said I had nothing to give, had already spent all my money on lunch, sorry.
So he put away the postcards and stayed to talk for a few minutes anyway. He introduced himself (didn't catch his name), asked me for mine, and where was I from. Heh... and he hit on me, and joked with me. Normally I don't like it when that happens, when strangers approach me like that, but this time it cheered me up a bit. "Have a boyfriend, princess? No? Run away with me, then." Hehe. He was so silly... eventually I had to go, so I said goodbye, and he said "Goodbye, princess. If you want to run away, I'm always here."
Made me smile for some reason...

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention. For anybody who cares, university is closed for holidays, so I shall not be on IRC during lunchtime. Yeah, yeah, I know, sucks. Especially since I was looking forward to talking with some people. Eh, will catch them in the evening, I suppose... if I can distract myself from modding the forums long enough to remember to turn on ICQ and IRC. ¬¬
...oh wait, forgot, choir this evening. Mreh. Will catch people in the early evening and late night then, I suppose. ¬¬

One of my hands is freezing cold, one of my hands is warm, my face is hot, my eyes feel funny and I very definitely feel like I'm still ill. If there's still nothing to do in the afternoon, I'm going home early, fuck's sake.

Maybe it's just me... but I thought friends don't hide from friends?

One of my cats is ill - the old one. We don't know what's wrong with him, when we came home from the holidays we couldn't find him anywhere, eventually we found him curled up under the hedge and trembling and he wouldn't come out when called. He's weak and he won't eat and he just spends all the time curled up somewhere and sleeping. He's so weak he often can't even stand.

In other cat news, we gave a bath to one of the other cats (Attila), he was really dirty so we had to. He kept trying to squirm away during the whole bath but was actually quite well-behaved... didn't try to scratch or bite, etc. Now he's outside in the garden, sitting in the sun and washing himself, trying to look dignified but failing miserably.

Bookplates. The link was stolen

Bookplates. The link was stolen from Neil Gaiman and is mostly for my reference (I tend to forget about this sort of thing), and the bookplates are for kids, in theory, but there's several that can be used by adults without shame. ;) Now if I didn't have hundreds and hundreds of books (which would mean a lot of ink and printer paper, and would also mean that my father would kill me), and I wasn't so reluctant to lend them out (which pretty much eliminates any need for bookplates)... heh. Maybe I'll add bookplates to my favourite books when I tidy and catalogue my books. Which I'll probably do alle calende greche, like we say in Italy... heheh. (The Greek Calends are a good date to postpone stuff to. ;)

Shamelessly taking advantage of the computers at work exp again. Hehe. Hey, I've nothing to do and I've already finished the book I had with me (I forgot to replace the ones I finished yesterday, so I only had one, and I stopped at a bookstore on my way here but found nothing interesting... bah). I could write stuff but I forgot my main notebook at home, too, with all the worldbuilding and character building notes on it, and what's the point of writing something if I'm gonna have change it all around because I've forgotten about a minor but relevant detail? Heh. That, and I'm still horribly stuck on writer's block. Bought three new notebooks coming here, though, as my old ones are all almost full, so maybe I'll scribble down something random on my way home. Nothing like blank notebooks to kick my creativity awake.

There should be a word for how you feel when you check your email first thing in the morning, find a spam titled "It's called "Superior Penile Shaftosis"", open it out of curiosity (it isn't often that you get spam emails with creative titles), and find an ad consisting of a photo of a big-balled squirrel thinking "It's hard to get chicks being hung like a squirrel..." and "Think BIG. That was entirely too amusing. XD

Yes, it'd died again, two days ago. Same symptoms as the other time it died... I came home, and I found it dead. Almost had a heart attack. ¬¬ Took it to the computer store, and it's alive. Turns out it was just the PSU that went this time. Phew.
Now I'm really tempted to name it TFC on the home network, but it's more reconfiguring that I can be bothered to do. And besides, it could be a sentient entity hellbent on pissing me off... and I don't want to give it any reason to retaliate.

Eh. Since I'm stuck on

Eh. Since I'm stuck on IE here at work experience, and therefore can't use any sort of popup protection (I'd install one if I could, but I can't)...

Just a question to the companies that advertise online, in the form of enormous popups, flash advertisements overlayed on the page I'm after which won't go away until they're finished playing, full-screen flash ads which don't spawn a "close this" button, nag screens to install this-and-this or you won't see the advertisement properly, and other amenities: do you really think that doing this you'll do something more than annoying people? No, because honestly, that annoying Nokia ad which just got spawned and stopped me from getting the information I needed for a bit because I had to wait until it closed itself made me want to throw my Nokia phone out of the window and never buy from the company again.
Fuck's sake. I guess it's true that it's just the brainless twits that end up in advertising.

OI. Mother nature. It's APRIL. You know, April? Springtime? Ring any bells? Stop it with the cold and especially with the fucking SNOW. Thx.

(No, it isn't snowing here, thank fuck. Snowing in several places it shouldn't snow in, though. Especially not in APRIL, ffs.)

Of course, springtime means the start of tourist season. Group of foreign tourists blocked the access to my university earlier today when I came back from lunch, because it happens to be in a historical building. The guide was bellowing at the top of his lungs, didn't recognize the language, and the herd of tourists wouldn't let me through. Uhh, excuse me, twats, I don't care if you're tourists. If you traveled a million miles to come stare at old buildings. That gives you NO RIGHT to stop people from going where they need to go, or blocking the traffic to take That Perfect Photo, or anything like that. There's some of us who live or study here. Be courteous or fuck off.

Things I still haven't learned,

Things I still haven't learned, part 1: sleep > reading. When you've slept very badly the night before, and you can use the 45 minutes of the train trip to sleep a little before really starting the day, "meh, I'll read just five minutes, until the next stop" is a very, very dangerous thing to think. Next thing you know, the train will be pulling into the station you need to get off the train at and you will still be reading, reluctant to put the book down for such a silly thing as getting off the train. You will put off closing the book and putting it back in your bag until the last minute, and be very glad the station you get off the train at is the last stop, else you would've certainly missed your stop.

Holy fucking SHIT there IS

Holy fucking SHIT there IS such a thing as dumb luck.

Everybody at work exp is really friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed but everybody is still respectful of me (as it should be). Place is five seconds, literally, from my university - it's next door. So I know the area already, I don't have to change five buses or anything like that to get there, and it's a nice area, parks and places to eat and stuff like that.
It's an unpaid work experience, but it may very well be that I can work there after graduation.
And well, get this. I can choose my own hours to be there. The guy I'm going to work with said, and I quote, "we work on objectives, not on timetables". Basically, if I can go there fine, if I'm busy with university, or have other things to do, I can not go, as long as the work gets done when it should be done. And I can pick my own holidays.

Eeeeeeee.

Mrrr. Sitting here on my first day of work experience, waiting for the person I'll be working with to get here and using a free computer to wander around the internet (yes, I asked permission, shush). Place looks and sounds very nice and friendly so far - I reckon it'll be very nice to be working here. \o/

And in other news, I'm still wondering what the hell certain people are smoking. I mean, hello? Whatever happened to being grounded in reality? I can understand if they were assholes towards me if I'd done something to warrant that, but I most certainly haven't. Muh. I hate it when people who are supposedly friends pull that stort of shit. >< Especially a certain person, who can be really nice when they want to be nice, but when they want to be an asshole they're the biggest asshole the world has ever seen. Rrr. And not only they attack me, they attack my friends as well, friends who are no part of the "argument" and weren't even around when the "argument" took part. That is a sure recipe for pissing me off.

Tidied up the sidebar a bit. Yes, that means the "other links" list from hell got broken up into "webcomics" and "other links", that it got reorganized, that stuff got added and stuff that I hadn't looked at in a year or more got deleted. It was long overdue for a tidying.

No, I have no idea why I'm telling you this. And no, I have no idea why the fuck I'm still up when tomorrow morning I have to get up early to do stuff. Rrr.

Why yes, my sleeping schedule's fucked up. And I need to straighten it out by Sunday, because on Monday morning I start work experience and university again for good - which means I'll have to get up at 7am every single morning (except Saturdays and Sundays... heavens bless the weekend). (Don't think that I don't like going to uni or work exp, though... I like what I study, and work exp looks like it'll be very nice.)

And I'm leaving on the 17th to go to Barcelona with my family for a four-day holiday, yay. Loved that city when I went there on a school trip, been wanting to go back for a while. Fully expecting to run out of space on my digital camera's flashcard, maybe I should buy another one as a backup? Naah. How many photos can I take in four days?

...considering I've been known to take 70+ photos in 15 minutes... errrm. I'll have to be careful I guess...

And then when I come back home I have a week's worth of holiday, going back to uni/work exp on Monday the 28th. Considering I just finished a holiday to start with... April turned out quite the lazy month. Heh. "Aprile, dolce dormire."

Heehee. Google buys Metafilters. I love April Fools' Day. XD

Went to get something to eat at McDonald's (shush), and the girl who served me (older than me) was quite respectful. She used third person when addressing me (common in Italian when respectfully addressing somebody... ie. "vuole qualche salsa?") and called me "ma'am" ("signora") to boot. oO; Was quite weird. Either I'm finally starting to look my age (or older), or she was quite shortsighted.

And then I sat down to eat, reading some manga I'd just bought, and a group of four girls introduced themselves and started asking me questions about the manga, where I'd bought the manga, what the plot was, how it ended, etc. Oo; That was quite weird as well, even if it's not the first time somebody attempts to strike up a conversation with me using what I'm reading as a subject.
